Most family Christmas photos fail for the same reason. Everyone picked their own outfit, the colors fight each other, and one kid is in a shirt with a logo that pulls your eye straight to it. The fix is boring and it works: pick one print, put everyone in it, and shoot.
Here is what to think about before you order anything.
Pattern scale matters more than color
A print that looks great in the product photo can turn into visual noise at photo distance. Tiny repeating shapes blur together and read as a texture, which is fine for one person and messy for six standing in a row.
Large, spaced motifs hold up better. A gingerbread man the size of your palm still reads as a gingerbread man from ten feet away. A field of half inch snowflakes does not.
If you are shooting close and tight, small prints are fine. If the whole family is in frame, go bigger.
Matching beats coordinating for groups of four or more
Coordinating means everyone wears the same palette in different pieces. It photographs beautifully with two or three people and falls apart with six, because the eye starts hunting for the pattern and cannot find one.
Matching removes that problem. Same print, different sizes. The photo reads as a group instead of as seven individuals who happened to stand together.

Pajamas work for the morning shoot
The Christmas morning photo is the one most families actually keep. Everyone is at home, nobody has done their hair, and the pajamas are already on.
That is an argument for buying pajamas you would be happy to photograph, rather than pulling out whatever was cheapest. A set with a long sleeve top, crew neck, and elastic waist pants sits flat on camera and does not bunch when someone sits on the floor to open a box.
One practical note on fit. Our adult sets are a unisex cut. Men often prefer to size up one for a roomier fit. Kids sizes run small, so size up one or two, especially if the photo is weeks away and the child is growing.
Hawaiian shirts if your December is warm
Not every family is photographing in front of a fireplace. Florida, Arizona, southern California, a cruise, a beach rental: heavy flannel is the wrong call in all of them.

Get every size before you get attached to a print
This is where most orders go wrong. A family finds a print they love, then discovers it stops at adult XL, or that the toddler version is a different design.
Check the size range first. Our family Christmas sets cover Youth 6M, 12M, 18M, 2Y, 4Y, 6Y, 8Y, 10Y, 12Y, 14Y, 16Y, then Adult XS through 5XL, all in the same print. If someone in your family is outside that range, pick a different print before you plan the shoot around it.

Colors that behave on camera
Red and green both photograph hot under warm indoor lighting and can blow out on skin tones. That does not make them wrong. It means your photographer, or your phone, needs to expose for faces rather than for the tree.
If you are shooting yourself with a phone on a timer, a print with a lot of cream or white in it gives the camera something neutral to meter against. A print that is nearly all deep red will fight you.
Neutrals also age better. A photo you hang on the wall for three years looks different from one you put on a card and forget.
Order early enough that you are not editing the plan
Everything here is printed after you order, which is why the size you want is always available. It also means production time comes before shipping time.
Pick your shoot date, then work backwards. Check the current production and shipping times before you order, and add a buffer if the photo is going on a card that also needs printing and mailing. Late November is the worst possible time to discover you are two weeks short.
Common questions
Do the adult and kids versions use the same print? Yes. The design runs across every size in the set, so a 6 month old and a 5XL adult are wearing the same artwork at different scales.
Can we mix pajamas and Hawaiian shirts in one photo? You can, and it reads better than you might expect if the prints share a palette. It works best when the adults are in one format and the kids in the other, rather than a random split.
What if one person is between sizes? Size up. The adult cut is unisex and relaxed, so the larger size sits better than a tight smaller one, especially when people are sitting on the floor.
Will the print fade after washing? The design is an all over sublimation print, which sits in the fabric rather than on top of it. Machine wash cold inside out, tumble dry low, and do not iron directly on the print.
